Periodontitis and Chronic Conditions

Periodontitis is the inflammation and infection of the supporting tissue around the teeth. Periodontitis occurs when inflammation or infection of the gums goes untreated.

When Periodontitis advances, the gums recede farther, destroying more bone and the periodontal ligament. Teeth, even healthy teeth, can become loose and need to be extracted. At this stage, the damage is irreversible.

Infections in the mouth can cause problems elsewhere in the body, including chronic inflammatory conditions, such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Treating inflammation may not only help manage periodontal diseases but may also help with the management of other chronic inflammatory conditions. Using CloSYS as a regular part of your brushing and oral health care regime may help eliminate the bacteria that lead to periodontal disease and associated inflammation.
